Frame & flush mounts

Samsung Frame Installation

The Frame is designed to sit flat against the wall like a picture, and it only looks that way if the mount and the One Connect box are handled properly. Most of the work is deciding where the box lives before anything goes on the wall.

The no-gap mount that came in the box

Samsung ships a slim wall plate with the Frame, and it is the right one to use — a generic bracket leaves the panel standing off the wall and the whole point is lost. If yours came without it, or a previous installer used something else, we bring the correct plate.

Where the One Connect box goes

Everything except the single thin cable plugs into that box, and it has to live somewhere. In a cabinet below is the simplest. Behind the panel in a recessed enclosure is the cleanest. Some rooms have neither option and it ends up in an adjacent closet. We work this out with you first, because it decides where the openings go.

The One Invisible Connection cable

It is thin enough to run inside the wall with the power, which is how you end up with a screen that has nothing visible attached to it. It is also easy to damage on a tight bend, so it gets pulled with a proper sleeve rather than yanked through.

Art Mode and the sensor

Art Mode dims the screen using the light sensor on the panel. Mounted too close to a bright window or under a spotlight it will misjudge the room. Worth a minute of thought at the marking-out stage rather than after the holes exist.

Our work

How it looks on the job

Filmed on real installs around Tampa Bay, with what each one came to.

65" in a new-build living room

Bracket bolted into the studs, then a hole cut for a recessed power kit so the cable runs inside the wall instead of down the plaster.

  • Drywall
  • Fixed mount
  • Cables inside the wall

What it came toabout $300

55" on a full-motion arm

Height measured against the seating position first, then a swing-arm mount so the screen turns towards the desk or the bed.

  • Drywall
  • Full-motion mount
  • Cables left exposed

What it came toabout $200

65" above a media unit

Feet off, plate assembled on site, studs marked, and the screen set at the height where the cabinet below still works as a media unit.

  • Drywall
  • Fixed mount
  • Cables tidied to the cabinet

What it came toabout $200

Called at nine, screen was on the wall by two. He found the studs off-centre from where I assumed they were and moved the mount over four inches rather than bolting into drywall. Cable went inside the wall, no trunking.

Our wall is block under the stucco and two other companies said it was fine with regular anchors. These guys turned up with a hammer drill and the right fixings, and told me upfront the cable would have to go in a painted raceway. Price was what I was quoted on the phone.

Wanted the TV over the fireplace. He measured the heat above the firebox, showed me the reading, and said he would rather put it on the side wall. Ended up better for watching anyway. Appreciated not being sold the thing I asked for.

Two of them came for the 75-inch, which mattered because I could not have helped lift it. Shoe covers on, dust sheet down, hoovered after. The bill matched the quote exactly.

Old mount was sagging from the previous owner. They took it down, patched the holes properly so I could paint over them, and put up a full-motion one. Took about an hour and a half.

Booked for the lanai. He explained why the outdoor bracket costs more and why the standard one rusts here within a season. Straight answer, no upsell theatre.

FAQ

Samsung Frame Installation — questions

Do I need a special bracket for the Frame?

No, the slim plate comes in the box and that is what we fit. You only need something else if the wall cannot take it — solid block, for instance, where the fixings change.

Can the One Connect box go inside the wall?

In a recessed enclosure, yes, if the cavity allows it and there is airflow. It gets warm, so it is not something to bury in insulation. If the wall will not take it, a cabinet below is the honest answer.

Will you mount a Frame above a fireplace?

Same rule as any other TV: we measure the heat first. The Frame sits closer to the wall than a normal panel, which does it no favours above a working firebox.

What about other flush-mount TVs?

LG Gallery, Hisense CanvasTV and the rest work the same way. The mount differs, the thinking does not.
