01How we set it up
Soundbar, shelf, console, speaker wire — the same rules as the TV itself: into studs or proper anchors, and set by eye with the screen on.
Most bars ship with a bracket, and where they do not there is a universal one that works. The gap matters: too close and it blocks the IR receiver, too far and it reads as an afterthought. We set the height with the TV switched on so you can see it.
Streaming box, console, receiver — a floating shelf under the screen keeps them off the floor and lets cables drop straight into the same run as the power. Shelves go into studs or masonry anchors, same rules as the TV itself.
With a wireless sub there is almost nothing to hide. For full surround the rear runs are the real work, and how far we get depends on the building — a single-storey house with attic access is straightforward, a slab-built condo is not.
Xbox and PlayStation brackets exist and they work. Give them air: a console shut into a cabinet runs its fan permanently and gets loud.
